Keshava Rao appointed PCC chief
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
OCT. 30.
The Congress today appointed senior leader, K. Keshava Rao, as the new president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. Mr. Rao would take the place of D. Srinivas, who was appointed to the post last year and later became a Minister in the Rajasekhara Reddy Cabinet.
Mr. Rao is a backward class leader belonging to Telangana region and served as a Minister in earlier Congress Governments.
His appointment is seen as a snub to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, since Mr. Rao is considered a bitter critic of the party.
Mr. Rao's name has been making the rounds for quite some time now. A former journalist, who also served as Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, Mr. Rao said he was overwhelmed with joy.
