Pulichintala protesters caned

NALGONDA, OCT. 30. Police resorted to mild lathicharge on a group of ryots from Guntur district at the NG College Grounds, venue of the public meeting held by the Pulichintala Vyatireka Porata Committee, on Saturday evening. Fifteen persons reportedly sustained mild injuries. "When we reached the grounds , a police team took us inside and beat us. Later they told me that the meeting was over by that time," an injured woman told The Hindu .

According to reports, police stopped the vehicles of activists at various places and detained more than 100 people, the committee's convener, Janakirama Reddy, told reporters.
