Deshmukh stakes claim

MUMBAI, OCT. 30. The Chief Minister-designate, Vilasrao Deshmukh, tonight staked claim to form the Government in Maharashtra. Mr. Deshmukh, accompanied by the NCP legislative party leader, R.R. Patil, met the Governor and staked his claim.

Senior Congress leader, Govindrao Adik, Patangrao Kadam, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress chief, Prabha Rau, Kripashankar Singh and the Nationalist Congress Party leaders, Gurnunath Kulkarni, and Vasant Chavan, Harshavardhan Patil, an independent legislator from Indapur, were present on the occasion. — PTI
