Bus blast: use of gelatine sticks confirmed

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, OCT. 30. Collection of burnt fuse wires from the blast site confirming usage of gelatine sticks in a private engineering college bus explosion at Kukatpally on Friday night baffled the Cyberabad police with no leads available over possible suspects.

A five-foot-long fuse wire and green plastic pieces suggesting usage of a container to keep the gelatine sticks were collected from the scene on Saturday. A three-foot-deep crater on the ground beneath the bus corroborated the theory that the accused kept the container between the two front wheels, the Balanagar ACP, S. Diwakar, said.

Both front wheels came off the vehicle. "The fact that a wheel's rim hit the JNTU compound wall, 100 yards away from the scene, creating a hole indicated that it was a powerful blast," the police said. Forensic experts opined that the explosion would have caused more damage had the container been planted at mid point beneath the bus.
