dated November 1, 1954: Sleepers in third class

The Railway Minister, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, told a social workers meeting in Baroda on October 30 that sleeping accommodation would be provided for third class passengers on long distance trains as and when sleeping coaches became available. It would be introduced in some trains from November 15. He said he would consider the possibility of reducing the price of platform tickets from two annas to one anna.
