Letters to the Editor
Sir, Mr. Patil should also go firstly for failing to initiate immediate action against Mr. Rao for making what he calls a "serious mistake" and secondly, for offering a person who committed the "mistake" the Governorship in a more sensitive region of the country.
V. Natarajan,
Sir, Mr. Patil became aware of Mr. Rao's "serious mistake" almost 75 days after the incident? Frequent transfers and removal of Governors by successive governments will do no good to the highest office of a State and the post will lose its credibility.
H.S.R. Sharma,
S. Bakthavathsalan,
Sir, Mr. Patil deserves congratulations for bringing in Surjit Singh Barnala as Governor of Tamil Nadu. Mr. Barnala is well known for not only taking the salute on Independence Day, but also for hosting a tea party.
