The Water Resources Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, inaugurating the Marthamariam women's meet in connection with the 102nd death anniversary of St. Gregorios of Parumala at the St. Paul's and St. Peter's Church auditorium at Parumala near Thi ruvalla on Sunday.
PATHANAMTHITTA, OCT. 31. The Water Resources Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the Marthamariam women's meet as part of the 102nd death anniversary of St. Gregorios at the St. Paul's and St. Peter's Church at Parumala this afternoon. The Tourism Minister, K. C. Venugopal, delivered the keynote address at the meeting presided by the Metropolitan of the Niranam diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, Geevarghese Mar Osthathios. The Catholicos-designate, Thomas Mar Themothios, led the Holy Eucharist at the church, earlier in the morning.
Reception
The pilgrimage processions to the saint's tomb at the Parumala church from different parts of the country will be accorded a rousing reception at Parumala tomorrow afternoon. The Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, Baselius Mar Thoma Mathew II, and other Metropolitans of the Church will receive the processions at the Parumala Church premises tomorrow. A pilgrimage procession from the Jalahalli St. Mary's Orthodox Church near Bangalore will also reach Parumala tomorrow.Elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the annual Pilgrim week at Parumala, which concludes on Tuesday. According to the Parumala Seminary manager, Christophorus Ramban, the police have made vehicle parking as well traffic regulations in Mannar town for November 1 and 2, the peak days of the Pilgrim Week. The St. Gregorios Mission Hospital has made health-care facilities for the pilgrims, besides the medical unit of the Health department at Parumala during the week-long festival. The information centre, jointly set up by the Parumala St. Gregirios Hospital and the Cardio-Vascular Centre headed by the cardiac surgeon K. M. Cherian was inaugurated by Christophorus Ramban on the church premises today. The centre provides free medical care facility to the pilgrims, according to the Ramban. The annual church festival will come to a close with the `Holy Ras'a on Tuesday afternoon.
