Thundershowers likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI, NOV. 1. Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala and Lakshadweep, at many places over Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka and at a few places over interior Karnataka.

Isolated rainfall occurred over Andhra Pradesh.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cm: Mangalore 12, Kozhikode 11, Ramanathapuram 9, Paramakudi (Ramanathapuram dt.) 8 and Chalakudi and Kodangallur (both Thrissur dt.) 7 each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are: Aranthangi (Pudukottai dt.), Karaikal, Tirupuvanam (Sivagangai dt.), Valparai, Minicoy and Chickmagalur 6 each, Coonoor, Kodaikanal and Agathi Airport 5 each, Vallam (Thanjavur dt.), Tuticorin, Thammampatti (Salem dt.), Madurai Airport, Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), Erode, Radhapuram (Tirunelveli dt.), Chettikulam (Perambalur dt.), Kundha Bridge (Nilgiris dt.), Kozhikode Airport, Mangalore Airport, Mani (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Mangalore Airport and Panambur 4 each.

FORECAST (valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over north Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over north interior Karnataka and Telangana.

LATE REPORT HEAVY RAINFALL: Sirkali (Nagapattinam dt.) recorded a heavy rainfall of 11 cm on Tuesday last.
