NEW DELHI, NOV. 1. A competent save by goalkeeper Jaswinder Singh helped Lyallpur Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar lift the Oriental Bank 33rd Nehru junior hockey tournament. At the Shivaji Stadium here on Monday, it beat Government Model High School, Jalandhar, 5-4 in the tie-breaker, after the regulation period failed to produce a goal. The match did not rise to the expected standards and there was hardly any good move from both the sides. Nine penalty corners six for the eventual winner did not fructify into a goal. And Model High School boys got three yellow cards for indulging in rough play. It meant that the Lyallpur team was not able to score a goal against a team that was reduced to ten members for about a quarter of the contest. In the tie-breaker, Prem Kumar, Jatinder Pal Singh, Parmod Dhir, Kulwant Singh and Paramjeet Singh converted for the Lyallpur team. Harpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Bachittar Singh and Manpreet Singh succeeded for the Model High School, while Jagjit Singh's attempt to convert the third penalty was thwarted by the Lyallpur goalkeeper. The winner collected Rs. 96,000, while the runner-up got Rs. 64,000. The coach of the Lyallpur team, Ripu Daman Singh, was presented with Rs. 8,000 and the coach of the runner-up team J. S.
