HYDERABAD, NOV. 1. Angry locals allegedly attacked Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA, Ahmed Pasha Quadri, on Monday evening when the latter came to Saidabad to console Mujahid's family members. In the melee, the MLA's gunman, Ibrahim Khan, lost his service pistol, according to the Saidabad police. A furious crowd mobbed Mr. Quadri as soon as he got down the vehicle expressing their anguish for not coming to their rescue even as the police "caned the people mourning Mujahid's death." Refusing to listen to the MLA's explanation, the crowd `manhandled' him even as policemen posted there rushed to his rescue. Taken aback by the assault, the security guard tried to control the mob and lost his 9mm pistol in the scuffle. He later lodged a complaint with the police suspecting that the assailants snatched the weapon.
