HYDERABAD, NOV. 1. While normalcy returned to Saidabad, trouble began in old city albeit on a small scale. Sporadic incidents of stone pelting were reported at Reinbazar and Moghalpura in the old city and Madannapet on Monday evening even as Saidabad, which witnessed violence earlier in the day, remained calm. Miscreants pelted stones at an APSRTC of Uppal depot at Moghalpura breaking its windscreens. The bus driver sustained injuries and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital. Stones were also hurled at a place of worship in Reinbazar. However, none was injured.
Police open teargas
Two groups threw stones at one another in Madannapet late in the evening forcing the police to burst teargas shells to disperse them. The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, R.P. Singh, visited Saidabad and took stock of the situation. He met the family members of Mujahid who died in police firing on Sunday night. He visited Madannapet and appealed to people to observe restraint after meeting elders of all communities. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Singh observed that police observed restraint despite heavy stone pelting by agitators at Saidabad. He maintained that some of those involved in stone pelting had been identified.
Cases booked
Cases were booked against the Tehreek Tehfuz Shariat-e-Islam president, Naseeruddin's son and the Darsgah Jihad-O-Shahadat president, Shaik Mahbub Ali, in connection with the violence at Saidabad. "Problems cannot be solved by resorting to violence. We did our duty", he said.
