By Iboyaima Laithangbam

IMPHAL, NOV. 2. The Army which launched "Operation All Clear" in parts of Manipur after the offer for peace talks by the Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi, was spurned, has inflicted `crippling blows' on the insurgents, according to a defence press release here.In the past few weeks, the Army has killed 13 hardcore insurgents, wounded seven and captured 34 ranking members. It has also recovered 20 assorted guns, ammunition and other equipment and documents. Two soldiers were killed and a Lieutenant wounded in a blast. In an encounter at Selon in Churachandpur district, six members of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) were killed.

A counter

The release was a counter to the claims of insurgents that they had inflicted heavy casualties on the Army in ambushes. It said the insurgents who are "on the run" have been sending misleading press releases to shore up the morale of the rank and file.

"Operation All Clear" was launched in Bishnupur,Churachandpur,Chandel,Imphal East districts.
