By Our Staff Reporter
ALAPPUZHA, NOV. 2. The Alappuzha district office of the Industries Department was damaged today when an AIYF march to the office organised to protest against the attack on journalists by Indian Union Muslim League workers and the police turned violent. The incident occurred at noon when 20 AIYF workers who marched to the district office clashed with the police. The workers stoned the office even as the police chased them away. Two AIYF workers were injured in the melee. The injured had been admitted to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. The Alappuzha district unit of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists also organised a protest march to the Alappuzha police control room against the attack on journalists by the Muslim League workers and the police. The office-bearers of the Union's district unit lead the march. The police stopped the march in front of the control room. Journalists later organised a protest meeting near the police control room. Those who addressed the meeting included the Alappuzha Press Club president, K.R. Jyotish, and the chief reporter of Desabhimani, K.V. Sudhakaran.
