Advani's agenda

Sir, — This refers to the editorial, "A tightrope walk" (Nov. 2). L.K. Advani has no option other than going back to Hindutva if he has to keep the BJP cadre and the Sangh Parivar together. As there are no elections that the BJP can win now, it can afford to go all out with the Hindutva agenda.

N. Kunju,
New Delhi

Sir, — Mr. Advani has promised the BJP cadre a Ram temple at Ayodhya. All the country's problems will vanish into thin air once this ambition of his is realised! Ram temple is the coracle that keeps him afloat in Indian politics.

S. Kuppuswamy,
Bangalore

Sir, — The Ayodhya issue has wreaked havoc with the Indian polity. The BJP should move away from such potentially explosive issues and concentrate on a nation-building agenda.

Annu Mathew,
Kottayam, Kerala
