9 cm rain in Kovilpatti

CHENNAI, NOV. 2. Rainfall occurred at most places over south Tamil Nadu and Kerala, at many places over coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep, and at a few places over north Tamil Nadu. Isolated rainfall occurred over Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded a heavy rainfall in cms.

Kovilpatti (Tuticorin dt.) and Hosdurg 9 each and Chittampatti and Kothagiri 7 cms.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Valparai, Melur and Kodaikanal 6 each, Madurai, Sivagangai, Coonoor, Ketty, Paramakudi Tirupuvanam, Manamelkudi, Watrap and Gudur 5 each, Mettupatti Sattur and Srivilluputhur, Kundha Bridge, Manamadurai and Ilayangudi, Siddapura CIAL Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram Airport 4 each, Sholavandhan, Uthamapalayam, Sankarankoil, Usilampatti Karaikudi Kannur, Punalur, Chalakudy, Cherthala and Kandukur 3 each, Periyakulam, Tiruchendur, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar, Adiramapattinam, Pamban, Madurai Airport, Uthagamandalam, Aranthangi , Amini Divi, Thalasserry, Nellore and Kavali 2 each and Vedaranyam, , Kanayakumari, Mylaudy and Thuckalay, Coimbatore Airport, Mettupalayam Mangalore, Udupi, Hosanagara , Bandipura, Thiruvananthapuram, Agathi Airport, Kottayam, Kumarkom, Karwar and Sulurpet 1 each.

Ramagundam, Nizamabad and Khammam recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 18 degree Celsius in the plains of the region.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala and coastal Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely over interior Karnataka, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and mainly dry weather will prevail over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
