CHENNAI, NOV. 2. The new mid-sized sedan from Ford, Fusion, manufactured at its Maraimalai Nagar plant near Chennai, was launched by the company's Chief Operating Officer, James J. Padilla. The car has a fusion of contemporary technology, styling to enhance safety, comfort and convenience. Addressing the gathering in the plant, Mr. Padilla said India represented one of the world's fastest growing auto markets and the launch of the Ford Fusion further demonstrated the company's commitment in India. He said the Indian plant was one of the best-rated facilities in the world. The COO said Fusion featured the Duratec 1.6 litre, 16-valve petrol power train and a new air-conditioning system designed for India's humid climate. With the Fusion rolling off the assembly line today, Ford India commenced volume production of the new model. Initially, more than 500 units would be produced every month. It would be on display in select cities for bookings and deliveries within four weeks. The company did not announce the price of the vehicle.
