Probe in Pakistan on Osama tape origin

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, NOV. 2. The Pakistani Interior Minister, Aftab Ahmed Shepao, has said a probe is under way regarding the claim made by Al-Zazeera last week that it received the latest Osama videotape from its office in Islamabad.

In an informal talk with journalists here, he said if Osama were alive he might be taking shelter in Afghanistan.

The Minister said police had planned a new security arrangement for both the President, Pervez Musharraf, and the Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz.

Car bomb

A car bomb exploded on Tuesday in Quetta, injuring at least one person.

The blast went off behind the office of the provincial Chief Minister. According to the bomb disposal squad, unidentified persons placed 20-25 kilo of TNT in a white Suzuki FX car. The Provincial Interior Minister, Sher Nausherwani, said highly explosive material was placed in the car.

The explosion shattered windows and damaged walls at two homes nearby.
