Two held for theft

NEW DELHI, NOV. 2. Two persons who had allegedly stolen a container carrying wireless sets, computer monitors and scanners from Okhla Industrial Area in South Delhi this past July have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. While the prime accused is still at large, the police have so far recovered stolen articles worth Rs. 8 lakhs.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Tejinder Luthra, the Anti-Extortion Cell received a tip off that a resident of Nangloi in West Delhi, Kultar, was disposing of stolen scanners, wireless sets and computer monitors at a rate cheaper than their market price. Subsequently, the police laid a trap on Nangloi-Najafgarh Road and intercepted an auto-rickshaw in which the stolen articles were being transported. Two persons, later identified as Gurmeet Singh and Vikramjit Singh, were arrested, while the main accused, Kultar, managed to give the police the slip. A dozen scanners were recovered from the vehicle.At the instance of Gurmeet, a dye-maker, and Vikramjit, a IInd year student of commerce, the police mounted a raid at Kultar's residence and recovered some looted equipment.
