Disclosing this here today the Health and Medical Education Minister, Tilak Raj Behad, said that the Public Service Commission had released a list of 296 doctors against the demand for over 500 and the candidates would be appointed soon. This will fill up the scarcity of doctors in most Government hospitals in the State.
``The Government was working towards the establishment of one big hospital in all the 70 Assembly constituencies by the year 2007. Also a male and female doctor, a pharmacist and necessary staff would be posted in all remotely located Primary Health Centres to provide adequate medical assistance to the people living far off from the district headquarters," he said.
"I am taking special initiatives to provide a clean environment in all Government health centres. Efforts are also being made to ensure quality medicines in the hospitals or in the open market. Any one found selling spurious or sub-standard drugs will be dealt with firmly," Mr Behad said.
