KOZHIKODE, NOV. 2. The police have nabbed 23 persons reportedly activists of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and its feeder outfits involved in the attacks on mediapersons in Kozhikode on Sunday and at the Karipur airport in Malappuram district on Monday. Eleven persons have been arrested by the Kozhikode Town police in connection with the attack on Indiavision office and The New Indian Express chief reporter, M.P. Prashanth, on Sunday. They have been identified as Shajahan, 30, Ansar, 25, Nishad, 25, Sirajudheen, 19, T.K. Rafi, 26, Hanifa, 29, Firoz, 22, Hrishad, 23, and Rafi, 30, all belonging to Vellayil-Puthiyakkadavu-Thoppayil, according to the police. Twelve activists of the IUML and its feeder organisations, including the Swantantra Thozhilali Union, have so far been arrested by the Kondotty police in connection with the series of attacks on mediapersons and activists of the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) at Karipur airport on Monday. Those arrested included Abdul Majeed, 36, Mohammed Muneer, 36, Zaheer, 25, Anwar Sadath, 24, Abdul Razak, 33, E. Ashraf, 28, Tanari Zulfikar, 30, M.P. Abdul Nazer, 32, Kunhabbudin, 33, and C. Sherif, 32. All of them belong to Malappuram district. Thirty-seven more persons have been identified in connection with the incidents, police sources said. Meanwhile, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Alphonse Louis Erayil, has started collecting evidence from the mediapersons injured in the attacks on the two days.
