PALAKKAD, NOV. 2. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demanded the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, to drop the Industries Minister, P. K. Kunhalikutty, from the Cabinet. The NCP vice-president, A. K. Sasheendran, and the general secretary, Rajan Master, told reporters here today that the UDF leadership and the Chief Minister were trying to shield him instead of taking action. This attitude was not in tune with the morality that prevails in the State.They demanded a judicial inquiry into the attack on mediapersons in various parts of the State. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) activists, angered at the media exposure of their leader, was trying to silence the press. The Chief Minister had also failed to take action against the League activists. Various organisations including the journalists unions organised protest marches in the district today. The SFI and AIYF activists workers took out a march from Victoria College to Fort Maidan. The NGO Union organised a protest meeting at the Collectorate against the attack on the media. The Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) organised a march to the Municipal Bus stand and held a protest meeting. The Kerala Journalists Union (KJU) held a protest meeting at the Media Centre here today and demanded a judicial inquiry into the attack on the mediapersons in the State. .
