NEW DELHI, NOV. 2. The proposed expansion of the Maharashtra Council of Ministers would now take place before Diwali, the Chief Minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh, said here today. He called on the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, but could not meet the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. "The expansion will take place after the three-day Assembly session concluding on November 6 and before Diwali; consultations are still continuing,'' Mr. Deshmukh told correspondents without indicating when his new team would be in place. Mr. Deshmukh held consultations with several senior Congress leaders.
