Special trains for a New Year rush

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 2 . Southern Railway will run special trains between Chennai Central and Thiruvananthapuram Central and Chennai Egmore and Nagercoil to meet the forthcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage- Christmas- New Year rush.

The 635/636 Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram Central specials will run four days a week and the 605/606 Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil as bi-weekly.

Train no. 635 will depart from Chennai Central at 9.15 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Central the next day at 4.30 p.m. Train no. 636 will depart from Thiruvananthapuram Central at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to arrive at Chennai Central the next day at 12.30 noon.

The services of the 635 special from Chennai Central will be on November 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, 30, December 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22, 24, 27, 28, 29, 31, January 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 17. The services of the 636 special from Thiruvananthapuram Central will be on November 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 25, 27 and 30, December 1, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22, 23, 25, 28, 29 and 30, January 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15 and 18, according to the railways.

Both the specials will have stoppages at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Palakkad, Ottapalam, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanacherry, Tiruvalla, Chenagannur, Mavelikara, Kayamkulam, Kollam and Varkala railway stations. The train will have one AC 2-Tier, one AC 3-Tier, 10 Second Sleeper, 3 General Second Class and 2 Luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Train no. 605

The 605 special will depart from Chennai Egmore at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday to arrive at Nagercoil the next day at 12.30. The 606 special from Nagercoil will depart at 1 p.m. on Friday and Monday to reach Chennai Egmore the next day at 4.30 a.m.

The service of the 605 special from Chennai Egmore will be on November 14, 18, 21, 25, 28, December 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 30, January 2, 6, 9, 13 and 16. The service of the 606 from Nagercoil will be on November 15, 19, 22, 26, 29, December 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31 and January 3, 7, 10, 14 and 17.

Both the specials will have stoppages at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Virudanagar, Satur, Kovilpatti, Vanchi Maniyachchi and Tirunelveli railway stations. The 606 special will stop at Mambalam also.
