It intends to launch a campaign on social issues in association with other like-minded organisations.

B.A. Mohammed Hanief, president of the parishat, told presspersons here on Tuesday that one of the major projects to be taken up by the parishat was a campaign against dowry among Muslims in 2005.

A social awareness campaign would be launched against this practice by way of release of books, pamphlets and organising seminars, workshops and dialogues.

He said the parishat intended to bring out a booklet on various facilities given to minorities by the Government.

This was important given that most minority community members were not aware of the facilities and schemes formulated to ensure their welfare, he said.
