Painting competition

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 2. A painting competition for school and college students will be held at the Kowdiar palace on November 11 in connection with the 92nd birth anniversary of Chithira Tirunal Balarama Varma. The topics for contest are `Mazhakkalam,' `Ente Vidyalayam,' `Njaan Kanda Keralam,' `Kshethra Praveshana Vilambaram' and `Raja Vazhchayum Janathipathyavum.' The competition will be organised jointly by the Sree Chithira Tirunal Smaraka Samithy and Chitrakalamandalam.

Coaching programme

Applications have been invited for a six-month civil service (preliminary) examination coaching programme to be organised by the University College from December. Candidates will be given coaching in subjects such as history, general knowledge, science, public administration and current affairs. Application forms can be obtained by paying Rs. 20 from the IAS Coaching Centre functioning in the college or by post addressed to coordinator, IAS Coaching Centre, University College, Palayam.

Protest march

The Employees Guild today organised a protest march and dharna in front of the Secretariat condemning the attack on mediapersons allegedly by the activists of the Indian Union Muslim League.

Condolence

Members of the Kerala Council for Historical Research (KCHR) today expressed condolence at the death of the noted linguist A.P. Andrews Kutty in Thanjavore on Monday. In a release, the council described Kutty as a close friend of KCHR.
