Subsidy for free power released

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABD, NOV. 3. The Government has kept its promise on free power to the agriculture sector by releasing Rs. 255 crores for seven months so far (from May) against the total annual commitment of Rs. 436 crores on this count.

The APTransco is pleased with the disbursement and is expecting that the amount for the rest of the year will be released without any problem.

Meanwhile, Transco officials have so far disconnected 15,000 out of the 3.5-lakh unauthorised agriculture services after farmers have harvested the crop. The drive would be completed by mid-December when rabi operations will be in full swing, an official said.
