TIRUCHI, NOV. 3. A trailer tumbled into the Coleroon river after hitting railings this morning, causing injuries to the driver and the cleaner. The police said the driver of the trailer, proceeding from the BHEL to Rajasthan with a load of iron beams, applied sudden brakes to avoid collision with a lorry coming from the opposite direction, causing it to swerve. The error in judgement of the driver, Kuppusamy (30) of Kottaiyur near Thuraiyur, was caused by another lorry which suffered a break-down and was stationed near the spot of occurrence, the police said, adding that it blocked the visibility of the lorry coming from the opposite direction. The driver and the cleaner, Kannan (30), who sustained fractures in his leg and hand, were admitted to a private hospital. The Traffic North police have registered a case.
