Mainly clear sky forecast

In Waltair, the maximum temperature was 31.0 degree Celsius and minimum 21.0 degree Celsius respectively on Wednesday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 49 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 50 per cent.

At airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 32.4 degree Celsius and 22.2 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 63 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 63 per cent. The minimum temperature at the Dolphin's Nose was 19.6 degree Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 56 per cent.

Health camp for media staff

Vizag Journalists Forum, in concert with Love-n-Care Ministries, is organising a mega medical camp on Friday at its Press Club premises in Dabagardens for the benefit of journalist and non-journalist employees of print and electronic media organisations.

A medical team comprising 25 specialists from the US will examine the participants, according to the VJF president, Shiva Sankar.

BSNL's new tower

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has commissioned another cellular tower at its telephone exchange opposite Rythu Bazaar in MVP Colony. "With this commissioning, signal availability and traffic handling capacity will improve in and around the colony,'' says a BSNL release.

LIC officers

stage dharna

The LIC Development Officers owing allegiance to the National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India observed strike and staged a dharna on Wednesday in protest against the management's policies and the unilateral circular on incentive scheme, according to the federation president, R. Jayaprakash.

Plea for tenders

The City Youth Congress Committee on Wednesday asked the East Coast Railway General Manager to intervene and order fresh tenders for leasing out parking lot near the railway station. In a memorandum, the Youth Congress general secretary, P.L.V.N. Murthy, alleged that there were machinations to renew the lease to the contractor, whose lease had already expired.

Visits Waltair Division

The General Manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR), S.R. Chaudhuri, during his visit to Waltair Division on Wednesday, inspected the route relay interlocking system at Visakhapatnam, the extension of Platform No.6 towards the Gnanapuram side, and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant siding.

He also conducted a meeting with zonal and divisional officials to review the progress of the on-going developmental works on the Division.
