HASSAN, NOV. 4. Irrigation pumpsets (IP sets) of farmers will be regularised on payment of a fee of Rs. 4,500, the Minister for Public Works and Energy, H.D. Revanna, has said. Addressing a meeting of Janata Dal (Secular) workers in Hassan on Wednesday, Mr. Revanna said the Government would get Rs. 700 crores by regularising the pumpsets. He said he was aware of the discrimination in identifying families eligible for the yellow ration cards. It had been decided to open MESCOM sub-divisions in Banavara and Nuggehalli for strengthening power supply in rural areas, the Minister said. Fifty-eight villages in the district had been included in the Nirmal Grama Yojane and Rs. 5.80 crores would be spent under the scheme, he said. Mr. Revanna said it was the duty of the party workers to inform the people about the schemes taken up by the Government. The meeting resolved to extend a grand welcome to the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, who is scheduled to visit Hassan on Sunday to inaugurate development works. The Public Works Department would start a new programme to repair court buildings in all the district headquarters in the State, Mr. Revanna said. Inaugurating a programme at the district court here, he said Rs. 6.50 crores had been earmarked for repairing court buildings in Bangalore. Repair of court buildings in other districts would be taken up in phases, he added.
