Mysore
By Our Staff Correspondent
MYSORE, NOV. 4. The Akhila Bharathiya Grahak Panchayat (ABGP) has demanded that additional railway counters be opened to ease the congestion at the railway reservation counters in the Mysore Railway Station. The serpentine queue at the only reservation counter in the city was a big inconvenience to the public. With the population of the city crossing one million and the increasing number of trains towards Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, and Thanjavur, additional counters were needed, the ABGP said. The organisation also stressed the need to open additional booking counters in at least four places in the city. It said that the counters could be opened at Chamundipuram, Vani Vilas Mohalla, Kuvempunagar, and near the Moffusil Bus Stand. The ABGP said in a press release that the booking counter on Sayyaji Rao Road had been closed around 30 years ago as it was not financially viable.
Satellite terminals
The Senior Divisional Manager of the Railways, Mysore Division, Prashanth Kumar, told The Hindu that such "satellite terminals" were not needed as only around 1,500 tickets were being sold at the reservation office.
