Juventus progresses

LONDON, NOV. 4. Juventus and Olympique Lyon joined Chelsea and Inter Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League after both scored late goals to seal their places.

Juventus qualified from Group C by beating Bayern Munich 1-0 with a last minute winner from Alessandro del Piero, which gave the team its fourth successive 1-0 victory and lifted it to 12 points.

Bayern lost and remained on six points but it can still qualify. A roller-coaster

Olympique Lyon joined Juventus in the opening knock-out round when it beat Fenerbahce 4-2 in a roller-coaster Group D match at home with two stoppage-time goals to take its tally to 10 points.

Group A: Liverpool bt Deportivo La Coruna 1-0; Olympiakos bt Monaco 1-0; Group B: Dynamo Kiev drew with Real Madrid 2-2; AS Roma drew with Bayer Leverkusen 1-1; Group C: Juventus bt Bayern Munich 1-0; Maccabi Tel Aviv bt Ajax 2-1; Group D: Olympique Lyon bt Fenerbache 4-2; Manchester United bt Sparta Prague 4-1. — AP
