HPF employees stage road roko
By D. Radhakrishnan
UDHAGAMANDALAM,
NOV. 4.
As part of the ongoing agitation against the Centre's move to close down Hindustan Photo Films, hundreds of employees, including women, staged an hour-long road roko on the busy Mysore-Udhagamandalam highway today.
They demanded that the Nilgiris Collector, K.S. Muthuswaamy, come to the spot. The employes alleged that the Nilgiris MP, R. Prabhu, "let them down in their hour of need."
After police and revenue officialsheld talks with the representatives of the `Save HPF Committee', the protesters called off the demonstration.
Seven women employees who had been observing a fast-unto-death near the company since Tuesday evening were arrested and hospitalised today.
