By Our Staff Correspondent
UDUPI, NOV. 4. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader V.S. Acharya, MLC, said on Thursday that he had urged the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, and the Public Works Minister, H.D. Revanna, to take steps to release Rs. 3 crores each to three coastal districts to repair roads. Addressing presspersons here, Dr. Acharya said roads in the three coastal districts were in bad shape because of the recent rain. A total of 45 km of roads in Udupi were under the Public Works Department, which had been directed to repair them. Some roads in Udupi had been dug up to lay water pipelines from the Swarna Second Stage Project. Roads were also being dug up to lay drainage pipes. The trenches would be closed only after the works were inspected. He apologised for the inconvenience being caused to the people due to these works. The BJP is in power in the Udupi City Municipal Council.
