BANGALORE, NOV. 4. A man diverted the attention of the director of a private power generating company and took away his pouch containing gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.40 lakhs in S.J. Park Police Station limits on Wednesday. The police said that around 7 p.m. Surendra A. Shetty got into his car at Unity Buildings on J.C. Road after purchasing gold jewellery worth Rs. 2.40 lakhs from a jewellery shop in the complex. After Mr. Shetty kept the pouch containing the ornaments on the seat, a man asked him whether some currency notes that were on the ground belonged to him. As Mr. Shetty got down from his vehicle, the man took away the pouch, the police said. The S.J. Park police have registered a case.
Two die in accidents
Two pedestrians were killed in road accidents in Madivala Police Station limits on Wednesday. K.C. Narayanaswamy (40), a Central Excise Department guard, was killed on the spot when a lorry hit him on Ring Road, in BTM Layout, around 9 p.m. The Madivala traffic police have seized the lorry and arrested the driver. In another accident, a man aged 45 was run over by a vehicle near Oxford Dental College on Hosur Road around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. The body has been kept in the Victoria Hospital mortuary. The Madivala Traffic Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the vehicle and the driver.
