BANGALORE, NOV. 4. Over 12,000 children from 45 schools in the city watched the screening of children's film at the weeklong Indo-German film festival, which concluded here on Thursday. The festival was organised by the Goethe-Institut (Max Mueller Bhavan) and had the slogan "Two nations: A single screen." Although six children's films from the two countries had been selected for screening, they helped the organisers in achieving their aim of introducing world cinema to the children from poor families. The films were especially screened for the children, mostly belonging to poor families, in the morning. In appreciation of his efforts in bringing the school children to the festival, the octogenarian film buff Venkataswamy was honoured. Over 25 other German, English, Hindi, Oriya, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali and Assamese films were screened during the festival. The internationally known German titles, such as Soenke Wortmann's The Miracle of Bern, Ulrich Edel's The Little Vampire and Joerg Gruenir's The Tenth Summer, drew good response.
Claudia Droste- Deselaers of the Film Foundation (North Rhine -Westphalia) and V.N. Subba Rao spoke. Many noted Indian and German filmmakers were present.
