Vijayawada
By Our Special Correspondent
VIJAYAWADA, NOV.4. The district Collector, K. Prabhakara Reddy, has asked the wardens of SC, ST and BC hostels in the district to ensure that the children in the hostels secured first division in SSC public examination. Reviewing the functioning of hostels in the district here on Thursday, Mr. Reddy said that the wardens should prove that children in the hostels were no way inferior to those studying in the corporate schools. The children were spending their childhood in the hostels, leaving their homes and parental care. Therefore, the wardens should take up their jobs with a missionary zeal to provide a conducive atmosphere to the children for studying well.
Focus on health
The wardens should take care of the health of the children in the hostels by teaching them healthy habits and inspiring them to practice the same. Stating that the engineering officials took initiative in ensuring that all necessary facilities were created for the hostellers. As quarters were provided for wardens within the premises of the hostels, they should also live there to pay better attention on the children, said the Collector. The Collector asked the officials of Social Welfare Department to take possession of the 20 hostel buildings which were completed long ago.
Intensive training
The Joint Collector, P. Sampath Kumar, wanted the wardens to have intensive training classes for low-achievers in specified subjects. He said that the wardens of those hostels which would secure 100 per cent first divisions or even passes would be given incentives and certificates.
