Explosions: `Telangana Dandu' hand suspected

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, NOV. 4. The Manjeera pipeline sabotage, explosion in two buses of private engineering colleges -- first at Kukatpally and then at Saroornagar -- and the blast at Kalanjali building on Thursday night. Going by the modus operandi, sleuths suspect that same gang was responsible for all the four incidents.

Police officials, wishing anonymity, stated that they had narrowed down on `Telangana Dandu', said to be a splinter group of the Communist Party of United States of India (CPUSI), based on the investigation conducted so far.

`Panic'

"One thing is clear, the culprits wanted to create sensation and panic, but did not want to cause large-scale loss of life or property," police maintained. This could be either for making their presence felt or scare individuals and organisations so that the latter pay up the money demanded by them.

Police confirmed that gelatine sticks were used in the four incidents. Though an organisation called Telangana Jala Sadhana Samithi claimed responsibility for blasting the Manjeera pipeline in Patancheru police station area a few days ago, police had suspect that Telangana Dandu was behind it.

There are other splinter groups of CPUSI like the `Dalita Bahujana Shramika Vimukthi' and `Telangana National War'. But cops are suspecting involvement of Telangana Dandu, as two of its active members -- Siddesh alias Mahesh and Venkatesh alias Shyam - allegedly preferred the path of violence to campaigning for their ideology through democratic means.

Investigations revealed that these splinter groups were responsible for blasting flag posts at the villages of former MLAs of Dubbaka in Medak and Aleru in Nalgonda, Mutyam Reddy and M. Narsimhulu respectively. The group was also accused of blowing up a flag post in the village of the former DGP, P. Ramulu, in Warangal district.
