NEW DELHI, NOV. 5. The Railways plans to introduce e-ticketing as a pilot scheme on selected Shatabdi Express trains by allowing the passengers to print their own tickets. The new system will lead to decongestion of the computerised passenger reservation system (PRS) counters, besides enabling the passengers to buy tickets up to the time of the charting of reservations, which is at present not available on the Internet ticketing system. Passengers will also not be required to cancel tickets on the waiting list, as they will be cancelled automatically and the amount due will be refunded electronically to the passenger's account.
