`Government keeping poll promises'

By Our Staff Reporter

NELLORE, NOV. 5. The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Panabaka Lakshmi, has said the State Government has been redeeming its pledge made during the election, including the one relating to sanctioning of loans to DWCRA women at 25 paise interest.

She was speaking after inaugurating the `Rythu Bazar' complex at Nawabpet on Friday. The complex was built at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs.

The Primary Education Minister, N. Rajyalakshmi, was the chief guest.

She pointed that though 107 Rythu Bazars were started during the earlier regime, only 95 were functioning to some extent. The MLAs -- Anam Vivekananda Reddy, A. Ramanarayana Reddy and Patra Prakasa Rao - the Collector, B. Rajsekhar, the Joint Collector, N. Sridhar, and others spoke.

Car surrounded

Meanwhile, a few AISF activists surrounded the car of the Union Minister at Nawabpet area and raised slogans against the hike in petroleum prices. The agitators dispersed after the Minister said the hike was necessitated by the increase in international oil prices.
