Man run over by lorry

MANGALORE, NOV. 5. A man was run over when he was guiding the driver of a lorry (KA-37 757) to reverse the vehicle near the New Mangalore Port Trust guest-house at Thannirbhavi in Panambur Police Station limits near here on Friday.

The police said Majoor (23), cleaner of the lorry, died on the spot when the lorry driven by Wazir ran him over. The Panambur Police have registered a case based on a complaint.

Arrested

The anti-rowdy squad of the Dakshina Kannada Police on Friday arrested three persons on the charge of theft. The police said an outboard engine used in fishing vessels was recovered from them.

A press release here stated that the accused Kabir (26) of Pavoor, Gudugudu Sharief (33) of Boliyar and Haidar K.P. (28) of Kanduka stole the engine from a boat owned by Yashwanth Acharya on Tuesday night.

The boat was moored on the bank of the Netravathi. The police also seized an autorickshaw used to transport the engine.
