SRINAGAR,
NOV. 6.
One militant was killed and the other escaped.
Officials said that the militants tried to force their way into the camp at Fruit Mandi by hurling grenades and firing indiscriminately.
In the exchange of fire that followed a sentry, Makhan Singh, was killed. He, however, gunned down one of the militants, officials said. Four BSF personnel, including two sub-inspectors, were injured in the attack.
The Jamiatul Mujahideen has owned responsibility for the attack. In another incident, two armymen were killed and four others injured when militants lobbed a grenade at the Army personnel in Lal Mandi area of civil lines.
The personnel were buying vegetables when the grenade exploded.
