Minister promises aid to SHGs

MAHABUBNAGAR, NOV. 6. The Minister for Labour and Employment, G. Vinod said the Government was committed to extend maximum financial assistance to self-help groups (SHGs) . The Minister was addressing loan distribution mela by the district Velugu project at Amangal and distributed Rs. 3.30 crores among 500 SHGs of Kalwakurthy. He also laid the foundation stone for an agriculture office building, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 5.5 lakhs at Amangal.

Scheme for jobs

He said the district would receive Rs. 5,000 crores for construction of pending irrigation projects. The Minister added that the Centre had planned a novel scheme to assure at least 100 days employment to needy people. Additional hostels for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes too were promised.

He exhorted the self-help groups to help eradicate child labour. District Collector, M. Jagadeeshwar, said Rs. 62 crores assistance was being given to the over 28,000 SHGs in the district.. About 600 unemployed youth was identified in Kalwakurthy for providing self-help opportunities under Velugu. Kalwawurthy MLA, Yedma Kista Reddy, Velugu P.D. Shajahan, CEO Upender Reddy, RDO, Jayaramaiah, NABARD AGM, Padma, and Additional SP, Dumos were also present.
