Congress planning `communal politics' in Uttar Pradesh
LUCKNOW,
NOV. 7.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today alleged that the Congress decision to appoint Salman Khurshid as the chief of its Uttar Pradesh unit indicated its plan to indulge in ``communal and appeasement politics''.
``Salman Khurshid's appointment is reflective of appeasement politics,'' the State BJP president, Kesri Nath Tripathi, told reporters here.
``Now the fight between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress for Muslim votes will intensify,'' he said.
In a bid to strengthen the party at village-level, office-bearers would be given charge of different districts and asked to formulate programmes to be launched in rural areas, said Mr. Tripathi. PTI
