HYDERABAD, NOV. 7. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) will soon start nine new sports academies, according to Sumita Dawra, vice-chairperson and managing director of SAAP. The academies will be set up at Srikakulam (weightlifting), Khammam (badminton), Cuddapah (hockey, boys), Prakasham (hockey, girls), Nizamabad (archery), Karimnagar (kayaking & hockey), Adilabad (football) and Hyderabad (rowing), she informed while video-conferencing with the District Sports Development Officers on Saturday. Ms. Dawra also said that SAAP Academies all over the State would soon have own buildings. "Only the academy at Vizag produced international medallists during the last three years. So there is a lot of scope for improvement in the functioning of academies," she added. She also asked the sports officers to educate parents and students about the sports quota admissions to various professional courses. Our Sports Reporter
