BANGALORE, NOV. 7. MEG defeated HAL 72-63 in a State senior basketball league championship for the N.C. Parappa Memorial trophy at the Beagles Courts here on Sunday. MEG notched its eighth successive victory in the league while HAL suffered its first loss in eight outings. Sirajuddin (17), Jiju Joseph (15) and Manoj (14) found the basket often for MEG while HAL's resistance hinged on the efforts of Sachindra (21) and Uma Shankar (11). In another match, KSP defeated JSC 76-15 after leading 42-27 at the break. MEG along with Vijaya Bank (seven wins from seven matches) are now in contention for the champion's title which will be decided on Tuesday when the two teams clash in the final league encounter.
