BANGALORE, NOV. 7. S. Mariswamy, Commissioner of Police, has prohibited procurement, possession, sale and use of certain type of crackers for Deepavali festival till 10 p.m. on November 17. According to a press release, following are the prohibited types of crackers high explosive varieties such as "Dia" and "Lakshmi Pataki"; sputniks of all varieties; explosives containing potassium chlorate such as "Bellulli Pataki" and "Nelagundu". The police have prohibited bursting of crackers within 75 metres radius from sheds selling crackers and in the silent zones. To prevent public inconvenience and risks during the festival season, the police have prohibited bursting of crackers between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. and bursting of rockets of all sizes in congested areas.
