NEW DELHI, NOV. 7. The rehabilitation of the 12-year-old girl -- abducted from Jehangirpuri in North-West Delhi five years ago and rescued from the clutches of her abductors about two months ago -- is not yet complete, alleged her father today. Worse, the fate of her friend who was abducted along with her is not yet known. The victim was rescued during a raid conducted by the Agra police at Sayeedpur where she was kept in confinement of some members of Beriya community, who had allegedly abducted her along with her friend from near her Jehangirpuri house. Their fathers had then got a case registered with the local police but to no avail. Finally, when the girl was rescued and brought back home this September, all she was provided was a few days of counselling by a non-government organisation, said her father. He said no other person came to enquire about his daughter's condition. "I am fortunate that my daughter is back after so many years, but her friend is still missing and I fear that nothing much is being done to trace her," he added. Regarding the role of Social Welfare Department in such cases, Rishikant of Shakti Vahini said the Department should take care of the entire process leading to the rehabilitation of victims. It is learnt that the Department here is yet to evolve a policy for formulation of a rehabilitation package for trafficked children.
