Dhaba set ablaze

By Our Staff Reporter

NELLORE, NOV. 8. A dhaba on the highway near Buranpur of Nellore district was set ablaze on Sunday night. It is being speculated that the incident is in retaliation of the death of a person earlier in an alleged clash with the hotel staff.

The rural police had already taken some of the staff into custody. Fire tenders rushed from Nellore to contain the fire.

Rice seized

The police in Atmakur on Sunday seized 15 tonnes of rice being illegally transported. On a tip off the local police intercepted the lorry near Devuru. The lorry along with the crew have been detained by police. Investigation is on.

Tension

Tension marked the distribution of subsidised seeds at Podalakur on Sunday. The distribution, which started smoothly, suddenly became tense due to arguments between two groups of farmers.

Police intervened and brought the situation under control.

The trouble was also due to the fact that for the entire Podalakur mandal only the local agricultural sub-division was authorised to distribute the seeds.
