TUMKUR, NOV. 8. Congress leaders in Tumkur district on Monday mourned the death of C. Kallappa (83), social worker. In a release here, S.P. Muddahanume Gowda, president, Tumkur District Congress Committee; G.S. Basavaraju, former Tumkur MP; G. Parameshwar and T.B. Jayachandra, former Ministers; V.S. Ugrappa, MLC; Sunanda P.K., President of Tumkur Zilla Panchayat; Jaggesh and S. Shafi Ahmed, KPCC secretaries; and H.S. Hemanth Kumar, TDCC secretary, said that Mr. Kallappa was a "progressive farmer, a patriot, and one who worked for the poor in the district." The leaders said Mr. Kallappa participated in the freedom struggle and was a staunch Congressman all along. Mr. Kallappa died at his residence at Kallegowdanapalya, near here, early today. He is survived by three daughters and three sons, including K. Shadakshari, Congress leader and former MLA.
