Crowd lays siege to Bhalki police station

BIDAR, NOV. 8. Over 200 people laid siege to the Bhalki police station on Monday demanding action against a gang of dacoits who robbed two persons near Beeri (B) tanda in Bhalki taluk on Sunday night.

The protestors dispersed after the Police Inspector, K.C. Asundi, assured them that he would take action against the offenders.

The police officer agreed to look into complaints of theft of pump sets.

According to a complaint filed in the Bhalki police station, Basavaraj Patil, owner of B.G. Printers, was attacked by a gang armed with knives and lathis.

He was hit on the head by the assailants who robbed him of Rs. 8,000 and a gold chain, the complaint said.

According to another complaint, Umakanth Bichchappa Karamunge and his family were robbed at knifepoint allegedly by the same gang.
